Recommended protein intake

The EFSA NDA² panel has set an average requirement (AR) of protein for adults (including the elderly) of 0.66 g per kilogram of body weight daily. Based on this average protein requirement, the panel has derived a Population Reference Intake (PRI) of 0.83 g / kg of body weight.

For example, a person weighing 60 kg has a protein PRI of 50g. Infants, children and adolescents: between 0.83 g and 1.31 g per kg of body weight per day, depending on age. Pregnant women: an additional intake of 1g, 9g and 28g of protein per day during the first, second and third trimester, respectively. Breastfeeding women: an additional intake of 19 g per day for the first 6 months of lactation and 13 g per day thereafter.

² Scientific Opinion on Dietary Reference Values for protein. EFSA Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies (NDA). EFSA JOurnal 2012: 10: 2557

This organic lupin flour has a high protein content: 43 g per 100 g of powder, which represents 46% of its energy content. As an example, if on top of the protein obtained from the diet, someone needs an extra 11 g, just taking 25 g of this flour will be enough to supplement it.

Allergens:

Contains Lupin. If you are allergic to lupin you should not take this product.

The advantage of the proteins in this flour is that despite being of vegetable origin, they have a high biological value (in relation to the WHO/FAO/UNU pattern), although they could be completed with foods rich in methionine, cysteine and valine. They do not contain phytoestrogens like soy, nor are they obtained from genetically modified organisms.

It has a low sugar content: 2.4g/100g of product.

It has a low salt content: 0.052g/100g of product.

Suitable for diabetics, hypertensives, vegans and vegetarians.

Certified Kosher, Organic, Gluten free and Non GMO.

Recommended fibre intake.

The role of dietary fiber in the intestinal function has been considered as the most appropriate criterion for establishing adequate intake. Based on this, the EFSA NDA panel considers that a daily intake of 25 g of fibre is adequate for a laxative effect. It recognises that amounts greater than this reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes, and improve weight management.

This lupin flour has a high fibre content (28 g per 100 powder), representing 7.4 g per 100 kcal. As an example, taking 1 measured serving of this flour will provide you with 7.8 g of fibre (31% of daily requirements as per the EFSA recommendation). 90% of this fibre is insoluble, which is the most suitable for intestinal transit. The remaining 10% is insoluble fibre.

In addition, this product provides a considerable amount of fermentable oligosaccharides (fibre-like), consisting of stachyose, raffinose and verbascose (7.6 g/100 g and 1.9 g/25 g of product), which enhance the laxative effect of fibre.
